High Tech Turbo HTB2 62mm 450-525HP Dodge Cummins from High Tech Turbo

The HTB turbo series features strong, large shaft, extended tip compressor turbos for aftercooled Dodge Cummins engines. With a 4" exhaust system, free-flowing air box and fuel enough to burn, 350-425 HP is the comfort range for this turbo. The HTB line-up features extremely durable and responsive chargers. Even after the initial quick spool-up, our HTB turbos build boost even quicker than other hybrid turbos so that there is plenty of boost at low-end, for towing and, well, for sheer fun. The result is minimal smoke as well as even lower EGT's. You have a choice of two different high-flow wastegated turbine housing set-ups. You can get great spool-up. You can get drive pressures down to 1:1 ratio at 45 lbs boost.

  • 450-525 HP 1050 ft. lbs. torque
  • Fits 94-2006 Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesels.
  • 3rd Generation (2003+) trucks include a wastegate resistor. These turbos will not work with a factory installed wastegate.

These turbos feature ported shroud compressor housings, well as dual ported wastegates with adjustable actuators set by our shop at about 40 lbs psi. Keep in mind that boost equates to turbine speed and once you exceed "safe" boost levels of a turbo, any turbo will become a candidate for failure. Engine head gaskets and other components are at risk as boost levels approach 50 lbs.

Unlike the Schwitzer S300G or "Super B" turbos, we sell the HTB2 with a choice of 12 or 14 quickspool modified turbine housings. We also give you the choice of turbine outlet flanges (standard HTB2, HX40 style 4" flange or 3rd gen flange). Other mods include an adjustable wastegate actuator and heavy duty bearings for durability.

The turbos for 94-2002 trucks are pretty much "bolt-up" except for the exhaust downpipe. If you have been running an HX40W then our outlet flange will make connecting to your HX40 downpipe easy. The 03-06 need not require a downpipe though an 03-early 04 might want one since the stock exhaust elbow necks down a bit. For 3rd gen engines, we machine our turbo exhaust outlet to accept your stock exhaust adapter so no downpipe is required. For more detailed turbo install tips and tricks, click here for our INSTALL page.

A larger, freer flowing airbox (as well as 4" exhaust) is a prerequisite for these high flow turbos. Be sure you get enough air to these turbos by replacing the restrictive air box on the 3rd gen trucks. *Some "high flow filters" only flow 450 CFM. Please allow for 1000 CFM.*

A note about EGT's
Customers who have done side-by-side comparisons of our turbos have told us that their EGT's drop about 200 degrees using our hybrid turbos as compared with their stock turbos. They have also witnessed an additional 200 degree drop using our HTB2.

Whether we're talking about air flow or EGT's, you must keep in mind that no two trucks are alike. Comments made here are based upon specific dyno results as well as real world experience derived since October 2003 from customers who have tested these turbos for us in the field.

Horsepower ratings provided above are real-world figures at 1400 max EGT's at 5000 feet of elevation. Sure, we could claim 700-850HP based upon certain dyno results using Nitrous and/or higher EGT's but that isn't the world in which most of us drive.

Be aware that power makes heat. We've had many positive comments regarding the lower EGT's these turbos provide. Drivers that used to exceed 1500 degrees on a hard pull on level 1 of an adjustable power box now rave that they can run level 5 before approaching these same temps. But you WILL heat up as you add fuel. Please be aware that fuel delivery and timing changes made possible by the multitude of performance injectors, "chips" or "boxes" out there will tend to over fuel any engine and raise EGT's regardless of turbo or induction system under various circumstances. The problem may not be the turbo so much as it can be performance chip programming. Also, be careful with your timing adjustments as these will kill of a turbo quicker than fuel adjustments.
